The numerous mangrove woods ensure the population of shrimps and crabs that deposit their offspring there. For the squids too, the mangrove woods are crucial in the first months of life. The native fishermen protect and foster nature to ensure their earnings.

The "Long Beach" is located on the southern tip of Koh Chang. Here you can enjoy a wonderful sunbath on this lonely beach. It's also the location of Tree House Resort. However, don't expect to find luxury here. Bungalows have neither running water nor air con. If you seek adventure and can put up with a 20-30 minute trip to the next village on a dirt road but can enjoy the absolute quietness, you are in the right place.

On an isle whose name means "elephant isle" you won't want to miss elephant trekking. The Thai are proud of their elephants because each trainer watches over and trains his elephant from its childhood and will spend his life with it. In most cases this tradition is passed from generation to generation. It is a memorable experience to ride on the back of an elephant weighing about 2 metric tons and being witness to its enormous food intake of about 400 kg a day.

Here you can see the fisherman's cabins at low tide surrounded by mangroves, and watch the fishermen at their daily work.

If you don't want to go diving you can go snorkeling. The crystal clear water will impress you. The best season for diving or snorkeling is October through May. Snorkeling spots are suitable for both experienced and unexperienced snorklers. The flora and fauna is especially beautiful at "Koh Rayang, Koh Kra and Koh Rang" and is really worth an experience.

A total of 5 waterfalls can be visited on Koh Chang. The largest is "Klong Plu" waterfall located on the westcoast in the Klong Phrao area. On the end of each fall there is a small natural pool surrounded by mangrove woods where you can take a refreshing bath if the waterlevel is high enough.

The mountains of Koh Chang are unlike any others on other Thai isles, being up to over 700 meters high. They have countless points with a great view, of which some of the most famous are above Kay Bae and White sand beach, the view of Salak Phet beach on the south eastern coast. The beaches themselves are great vantage points to view the mountain scenery provided the air is clear.
